Chapter Twenty-Three
Reese
“You okay?” I asked Harry, worried that she had passed out since I almost had. Two unconscious individuals didn’t seem like a good idea.
“Let me catch my breath. I think I almost expired.”
I stood, the taste of her still on my lips as I walked over to the dinner table and took a swig of beer. “I’m not sure if I like the fact that I almost killed you.”
“I would have died from pleasure. My body is still vibrating. You’re quite good at oral sex you know. I’m sure you’ve had quite a lot of practice.”
“And you’re very talented at sucking cock, so I suppose that makes us even.”
“I’ve not had much experience with a man pleasuring me. I mean with his tongue.”
“At your age, I would think you’ve had quite a few men eat you,” I said carefully. I really didn’t want to hear about how many men serviced Harry because then I would feel obligated to tell her my sexual history.
She held out her hand as she motioned for me to give her the dress but not the bra. She didn’t put it on, just covered herself with it. “True, I’ve had many lovers, but they were usually one night only and were more interested in receiving than giving in that department.”
“What about your son’s father?” I asked as I grabbed my beer and pulled a chair close to her. I gripped the back of her chair and pulled it upright.
Harry scooted to sit up and draped the black garment to blanket herself. “My son’s name is Penne. His father’s name is Nolan, and he is a motherfucker.”
She said his name with such disdain, and her use of motherfucker was kind of shocking.
“Can you tell me about it, or is it too personal?”
“Reese, you just had your tongue in my vagina. Conversation would not be as personal as that.”
“I just need to understand.”
“You want to know how Harriet Wellington became such a Hun. I’ll tell you if you make me a vodka martini. I need a drink if I’m going to scrutinize my past.”
I strolled into the kitchen in my briefs, not bothering with clothes since I planned to take Harry to bed at some point. I made the mixture in a shaker, then poured it into a glass, garnishing it with three olives. After handing her the drink, I sat.
“I’d been sitting at the head of businesses for nine years. When I turned thirty, I met Nolan while working in Japan and was with him for almost two years. I’m sure my wealth lured him.
“Back then, I was a different woman. I wanted flowers, gifts, and romance. I had the same dreams I think you did, and I pursued those with a vengeance. When I got pregnant, he changed. It was subtle at first and I tried to ignore it, but right before Penne was born, he expressed he didn’t want to be a father.”
I took her hand and pressed a kiss to it as she took a sip.
